Comprehensive Evaluation
Sixty minutes of careful looking, measuring, and listening, followed by a written report that maps the path forward. Every chicagomyo plan starts here.

Why evaluate first
Orofacial myofunctional disorders hide in plain sight. How the tongue rests, how you breathe at rest, how you chew and swallow: these patterns run thousands of times a day, and they shape breathing, sleep, dental health, and speech. Because they are habits, they are nearly impossible to notice from the inside.
The evaluation makes those patterns visible. We look at rest posture, breathing mode, chewing and swallowing, oral habits, and speech and feeding where relevant, and we take baseline photos and measurements so progress is tracked against evidence rather than impressions.
What we assess
- Tongue and lip rest posture, day and night
- Nasal versus mouth breathing at rest and during activity
- Chewing and swallowing patterns
- Facial muscle tone and jaw movement
- Oral habits such as thumb sucking or nail biting
- Speech sounds and feeding skills where relevant
- Baseline photos and measurements
What the evaluation gives you
Within a week you receive a written report in plain language: what we found, why it matters, and what we recommend. When findings point outside our scope, the report includes referrals, most often to an ENT, a dentist or orthodontist, or a sleep physician, and we coordinate directly with them.
If therapy is indicated, the report lays out a phased program with a clear sequence and an end in sight, so you know what you are committing to before you begin.
What to expect
- A relaxed 60-minute appointment, in person or by telehealth
- Baseline photos and measurements taken with consent
- A written report within a week, in plain language
- A follow-up conversation to walk through findings and next steps
