TMJ & Jaw Tension
Easing clenching, grinding, and jaw strain by retraining the muscle habits underneath, in coordination with your dental care.

Understanding jaw tension
The jaw muscles are designed to chew, then rest. For many people they never get the rest: teeth held together through the workday, clenching at screens, grinding at night. Over time that constant load shows up as soreness, tension headaches, clicking, and worn teeth.
The position of the tongue and the way you breathe set the stage. When the tongue rests low and the teeth touch by default, the jaw carries load all day without you noticing. Retraining those defaults gives the joint and muscles the recovery time they were built for.
Signs we see
- Jaw soreness or stiffness, especially in the morning
- Clicking or popping when chewing or yawning
- Tension that creeps into the temples or neck
- A dentist reporting grinding wear or recommending a night guard
- Catching yourself clenched during focus or stress
How therapy helps
Therapy builds a new default: teeth apart, lips together, tongue resting on the palate, breath through the nose. Awareness training catches the clench early, and targeted exercises rebalance and relax the overworked muscles.
We work alongside your dentist or TMJ specialist, complementing night guards, orthodontics, or other care they direct. Progress is measured, reviewed, and shared in writing.
What to expect
- An evaluation mapping jaw movement, tension patterns, and rest posture
- A short, focused program with clear phases
- A few minutes of daily awareness and exercise practice
- Coordination with your dentist or specialist throughout
