Sleep Apnea & Snoring

Airway muscle retraining that supports quieter, deeper sleep, working alongside your physician's care rather than in place of it.

Sleep Apnea & Snoring

Understanding airway muscle tone

Snoring and sleep-disordered breathing often involve muscles as much as anatomy. When the tongue rests low, the mouth falls open at night, and the muscles of the tongue and throat lack tone, the airway narrows and vibrates more easily. The result can be snoring, restless sleep, and mornings that never feel rested.

Sleep apnea itself is a medical condition, diagnosed and managed by a physician. Myofunctional therapy is studied and used as an adjunct: airway muscle training can reduce snoring and support treatments such as CPAP or an oral appliance.

Signs we see

  • Snoring, or breathing through an open mouth at night
  • Waking unrefreshed, or daytime fatigue
  • A bed partner noticing pauses or gasps, which belong with a physician first
  • CPAP or oral appliance users looking for adjunct support
  • Children with restless sleep, snoring, or morning dry mouth

How therapy helps

The program targets the muscles that keep the airway open: tone and endurance work for the tongue, soft palate, and throat, paired with retraining nasal breathing and a closed-lip rest posture day and night.

We coordinate with your sleep physician or dentist from the start, share written reports, and track change against the baseline measures from your evaluation. Therapy complements medical care and never replaces it.

What to expect

  1. An evaluation that screens sleep-related patterns and coordinates with your physician
  2. Weekly sessions of targeted airway muscle training
  3. Five to ten minutes of daily practice at home
  4. Progress reviewed against baseline, with reports shared across your care team
